Psychana Summit DC is the spiritual continuation of the Cannadelic Event Series — a visionary gathering that united over 25,000 attendees from 28 countries and 40 states around the transformative power of plant medicine, holistic health, and conscious community.
This next chapter is guided by Psychana Church, a federally protected religious organization that honors sacred mushrooms and cannabis as spiritual sacraments — divine gifts of the Earth that support emotional healing, personal revelation, and connection to higher consciousness.
Our sacramental practices are grounded in sincerely held religious beliefs and are protected under the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). All ceremonies, community events, and educational offerings are reserved for registered members of Psychana Church.
Rooted in science, storytelling, and sacred care, Psychana Summit DC is more than a conference — it’s a sacred convergence for healing justice, spiritual freedom, and the future of mental health.
National Mushroom Cup: Sourcing the Sacred
We’re proud to host the National Mushroom Cup in partnership with Hyphae Labs — the nation’s first and most respected psilocybin testing lab and the creators of the groundbreaking Hyphae Cup. As pioneers in community-centered psychedelic science, Hyphae leads the industry in high-integrity testing, education, and data-driven harm reduction.
This competition is not about hype — it's about sourcing the highest quality sacred medicine through rigorous analysis and honoring excellence in cultivation. Entries are tested for potency and purity to inform both research and sacramental use within our community.
Together, we’re advancing the future of safe, informed, and intentional mushroom use in alignment with spiritual practice and holistic healing.
Entry in the National Mushroom Cup includes a one-year membership to Psychana Church, a sacred medicine ministry that honors mushrooms and cannabis as religious sacraments. All entries are submitted in alignment with our spiritual mission and are intended for sacramental and research purposes only.
This work is protected under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and the First Amendment, affirming our right to explore, honor, and share these sacraments in a safe, structured, and spiritually grounded way.

Hi, I’m Nurse Colleen, and today I’d like to dive into a topic that’s close to my heart: the mindful use of cannabis and psychedelics for mental health. As someone who’s spent years in the medical and wellness fields, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible potential these plant medicines have to support emotional healing and mental well-being. However, the key to unlocking their full benefits lies in how we approach their use—especially when it comes to mindfulness.
Mindfulness is simply the act of being fully present in the moment, with a focus on awareness and intention. When it comes to cannabis and psychedelics, mindfulness means going beyond recreational use or merely seeking relief. It’s about connecting with the medicine in a way that fosters self-awareness, emotional exploration, and healing.
For instance, cannabis can be a powerful tool to reduce anxiety or manage chronic pain. But without mindfulness, it’s easy to fall into a routine of use that doesn’t truly address the root of the issue. By incorporating mindfulness techniques—like deep breathing, meditation, or journaling—you can engage with cannabis in a way that promotes relaxation, clarity, and emotional balance. Instead of just numbing or avoiding discomfort, you’re actively participating in your healing process.
Similarly, psychedelics like psilocybin, LSD, or DMT can open the door to profound mental health breakthroughs, offering insights into the deeper layers of your consciousness. When used mindfully, these substances can facilitate emotional release, self-discovery, and even help address trauma. However, without a mindful approach, these experiences can feel overwhelming or difficult to integrate into daily life. That’s why preparation, intention, and post-experience reflection are so important.
Both cannabis and psychedelics have been gaining recognition in the medical community for their potential mental health benefits. Studies show that cannabis, particularly CBD, can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates mood, stress, and sleep.
Psychedelics, such as psilocybin and MDMA, have been shown to help people with treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and even addiction. These substances work by affecting the brain’s serotonin receptors, promoting neuroplasticity, and helping the brain form new, healthier connections. Essentially, they can help “reset” negative thought patterns, making them a powerful tool for mental health when used in the right setting.
To truly benefit from the therapeutic potential of cannabis and psychedelics, it’s essential to incorporate mindfulness into your practice. Here are some steps you can take:
Set an Intention: Before using cannabis or psychedelics, take a moment to reflect on why you’re doing it. Are you looking to ease anxiety, gain insight into a personal issue, or reconnect with your inner self? Setting a clear intention can help guide your experience and keep you grounded.
Create a Safe Space: Whether you’re using cannabis to relax or embarking on a psychedelic journey, make sure you’re in a comfortable and safe environment. Your surroundings can have a significant impact on your experience, so choose a place where you feel calm and at ease.
Incorporate Mindful Activities: While using cannabis, try incorporating mindfulness practices like meditation, breathwork, or gentle yoga to enhance the therapeutic effects. For psychedelics, journaling or engaging in creative activities like painting or music can help you process your experience.
Stay Present: Mindfulness is all about being present. Focus on your thoughts, emotions, and sensations as they arise. Instead of trying to control the experience, allow yourself to observe it without judgment.
Reflect and Integrate: After your experience, take time to reflect on what you learned. For psychedelics, integration is a crucial part of the process—how you apply the insights you gained to your everyday life. Journaling, talking with a trusted friend, or working with a therapist can help you make sense of the experience.
When used mindfully, cannabis and psychedelics have the potential to be more than just tools for relief—they can be powerful catalysts for personal growth and healing. By approaching these plant medicines with intention and respect, you open yourself to deeper levels of self-awareness and emotional well-being.
As always, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning any new wellness routine, especially when it comes to psychedelics and cannabis use for mental health. Not every approach works for everyone, and finding the right balance is key.
I hope this post has shed some light on how mindfulness can enhance your relationship with plant medicine. Remember, true healing happens when we are fully present and engaged with ourselves, and that includes how we approach the tools we use to support our mental health.
Stay mindful, stay well.
Warmly,
Nurse Colleen
